Final project - Animoto videos
Guys,
What you have to do for your final project is create a video with pictures from one event (a trip, a party, etc) and write a brief description of the event, saying why you chose that event to create a video for. Don't forget to add a song related to the event and also say why you chose that song.
Here is an example of an animoto video I have just created with my NYC pictures:
Here is a little tutorial on how to create animoto videos just like mine:
Important info:
site: www.animoto.com
promo code: ict08
observation: if you try to upload pictures, animoto uploads them, but they don't appear as uploaded (or some of them don't), that's because the pictures are too big. There are many ways of resizing a picture. You can use one of these websites: shrinkpictures.com or resize2mail.com or you can download picasa (a software from google), which I love, and besides resizing the picture, you can also edit it in many ways.

Let's get intercultural

Hey guys!
It's time to get intercultural
As I told you, our voicethread has been published in many different places, and every day there are new voice comments being added. Remeber you can always record more things there, and in any picture. You can respond to comments or even answer questions with you voice. Don't be shy!
Also, Larry Ferlazzo's students, from Sacramento, California, have left many questions for you - mot of them questions to specific people - in the Student Showcase blog. So try to use some of your time to go there and answer some of the questions, especially the ones asked especifically to you.
To answer the questions, go to the Student Showcase blog, look for a post called "An Introduction to Brazil" (that's one of the places where I posted our voicethread), click "xx comments", scroll all your way down to very end of the page, fill in the required fields with your information (in website type your blog's url: http://finally5b.21classes.com/yourusername and your name will be a link to your blog), write the comment and click "submit comment". Don't forget to write your blog's url at the end of your comment in order to advertise it.
That's it! I hope we can all learn more about other cultures!

Adding the voicethread to your blog
Hey 5B students!
If you want, you can also add the voice thread to your own blog. Then, every change made on it and every comment published will be updated to the voicethread in your blog automatically. All you have to do is copy the html code and paste it in the html section of your blog. The last slide in the show gives you the option "embed". If you click it, you will be given four possibilities. Choose the third one (small version), just as in the pics bellow:

Blog Gadgets
Hey everybody!
We are talking about gadgets in this unit, and did you know that there are gadgets for blogs? There are many websites that offer cool things to be added to a blog, which are called widgets (or gadgets too). Here I'll give you three examples, explain briefly about them and give more details in class.
Well, first of all, widgets can be added to your blog through a code, called html code. All you have to do is copy the html code from the website and, when writing your new entry here in your blog, paste the code. There is one detail, though, the code has to be pasted in the right place! When writing a new entry, on the tools bar,the last tool is the html (it's written "html"). When you click there, a new window will open with all your post in html code. Find the place where you want the widget to be, paste the code there and click the update button.
Here goes the three examples:
- Youtube video - watch this funny video about pronunciation and then see where I got the html code (red rectangle):
- Rockyou - that's a website where you can create photo albums (there are many options of albums) for free. This is one slide I created of pictures from a place I really want to visit. Can you guess what place it is? Watch the slide and then see where I got the html code (red rectangle):
- Gifup - another website to creat a photo show. This one has only picturs from Brasília. The same thing, take a look at the pictures and then see where I got the html code:
Well guys, these are some ways of making posts more attractive and sophisticated, so have fun!
