An unreal story

It was night in Brasília and the darkness showed that it was probably about two o'clock. I had too much work to do that day, so I just could get near my building by that moment. It was cold - I can remenber it beause unfortunately I did not have a coat with me. So in this sense, I walked on the street as fast as I could to get home earlier and warm myself. When I got inside the elevator, I was with my head down, so I did not see who was there with me.

However, a few seconds later, I realized that I still had not pressed the button to go to the ninth floor, where my apartment is. That was when I raised my head and say that there were two people with me, whom I no even knew the names. However, the worst was because, besides being men, they were checking me out, which made me get really afraid. I was praying for me to come home as fast as I could, but I did not know what was going to happen next.

The moment I touched the button with a nine on, the lights turned off inside the elevator and it was really dark. Also, at the same time, there was a hard silence. I still do not know if I got in panic and stopped hearing every sound or if nobody said any thing. After a little time, which seemed to be eternity for me, I heard a male voice with a strange accent that asked me my name. I answered: "Maria" and asked the same fot both of the men. I heard that their names were Jorge Finneman and Jeff Monson. Then, I started crying.

They stopped talking and the hard silence showed out again. They told me not to be afraid, because the light was probably coming back soon. After it, they introduced themselves and told me that Jorge was a German engineer who was 38 years old and had been living in the USA for a long time and Jeff was an American fighter who was 35. They were friends who decided to spend a vacation in Jeff's cousin's house, which was on the sixth floor. I told them I was a lawyer and was 28 and also that I had been living in that building for only two months.

After some minutes, the lights turned on again and we could get away from the elevator. Nowadays, I am 30 and Jorge and Jeff are still living in Brasilia, but in another building and we are still friends, too. Finally, I am still afraid of elevators, but, at least, this strange episode made me make good friends.

My first day at Military School

I am the kind of person who alwaus gets afraid when doing something for the first time. It has always been like that in my life: I was a little bit afraid and anxious when I first kissed, when I first went to a party without my parents or my sister, when I did the test of PAS for the first time and so on. So in this sense, my first day at Military School couldn't be different at all.

First of all, I am a very anxious person. This can be proven by the fact that I bite my nails, which shows anxiety. In addition, before I started studying at Military School or CMB (the way some students call it) I had always heard that it was a really hard school, where discipline was for sure the dearest characteristic of the students. Those rumors made me get really scared of my first day there, which was at the end of January of the year 2003.

I was only ten years old and I thought that if I did something that was against the Military's law I would be hardly punished, even if my mistake were irrelevant. Also, I can remeber that when I first stteped on the school's floor, I almost started crying. However, I went ahead and really enjoyed this first day! Finally, I realized that all the new students were scared (just like me!) and, after all, the famous Military School couldn't be that bad.

Therefore, after some time I accustomed to the discipline. Nowadays, I love my school and I feel sad to know that next year will be my last one studying there... I admit that remebering that first day gave me some nostalgia and I wish I could relive that unusual moment.

Best invention of the XIX century

Internet, big LCD televisions, fast cars, iPods, thin laptops, contact lens... There is no limit to the human beings' capacity of creating. In addition, discovering new things and coming up with solutions for their problems has always been essential for men. That is probably the reason why there are an uncountable number of inventions nowadays. However, some of them have become basic for people's life, such as the lamp, which is, for sure, the greatest invention of the XIX century.

The first thing that makes it the best invention is the irreplaceable characteristic that it has. Candles produce light. Nonetheless, the lamp, combined with the electric energy, gives people the easiest and longest way of seeing in the dark. Besides that, this object provides clarity in any case, day and night, every time men need it.

It is also very important to say that this XIX century invention brought lots of changes for people in the world. The discovery of the lamp helped the invention of the television, which made the creation of the computer easier and so on. That is why it was the greatest invention of te last years.

Therefore, it is true that the lamp made a big difference in a society where all the things that are practical are very welcome. In addition, nowadays people cannot think of life lighted by candles, but only by lamps. That shows how hard life would be without this extraordinary invention!

Music..

Hey guys! after some time being far from this blog, here I am again. I was very busy the last weeks and then I didn't made a post here.

Anyway..today I decide to tell you about music. I play the clarinet at the Band from the Military School.

That's why I put here this video (made at the celebration of Father's Day): for you to see how a show of our band is like and also for you to know little bit more about brazilian kinds of typical music.

In this video, a lot of song are played. But I want to ask you to pay most attention on the first song that is played, cause it's a pout-pourri of typical music from the Northeast side of Brazil, such as Asa Branca and the rhythm called "frevo".

So, here it is!

I hope you enjoy it Wink
